The Story

Three Generations, One Office

Since Jerry Davis opened the doors in 1980, the work has been held to one standard: careful, accurate and done right the first time. Clients trusted the firm with their returns, then with their businesses, and then sent their families and friends.

That trust is how a small Portage practice grew into a firm serving individuals, families and businesses in Portage, Kalamazoo and nationwide. The software and the filing have changed over the years. The standard has not.

Jerry Davis
Opened one office on Portage Road and prepared returns for the people who lived around it.

Second generation
John Davis
Added bookkeeping, payroll and business returns, so a local business could stop using three firms for one set of numbers. Still with the firm today.

Landon & Ian Davis
The two co-owners running the firm now. Landon leads operations and the tax preparation team; Ian sets the firm's direction and its planning work.

Landon Davis

Co-Owner

Landon is the third generation of his family to help lead Davis & Associates. Before returning home to Portage, he spent nearly a decade in corporate accounting and finance, supporting operations with budgets exceeding $500 million. His experience included financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, process improvement, and helping leadership teams make informed decisions through accurate financial information.

Today, Landon leads the firm's internal operations and tax preparation team. He oversees the systems, processes, and people that help ensure clients receive timely, accurate, and consistent service throughout the year. From individual tax returns to complex business filings, he works closely with the team to maintain quality, improve efficiency, and continually strengthen the client experience.

Drawing on both his corporate background and family legacy, Landon is focused on helping Davis & Associates grow while preserving the personalized service and trusted relationships that have defined the firm for generations.

Ian Davis

Co-Owner

Ian studied finance and economics, then built a career in sales, operations and financial forecasting, where he led teams and built the numbers they were measured against. Every role taught him the same thing. A business that knows in the fall what its year looks like still has choices. A business that finds out at filing time has a bill.

He leads the firm's direction and its planning and advisory work, and brings an operator's view to the owners the firm serves. If you want us in the room before you buy the building, hire the fifth employee or take the distribution, that is the practice Ian is building here.

In the Community

Landon and Ian are both part of the Southwest Michigan Chamber and Startup Garage in West Michigan, working alongside the owners and founders building businesses in the region the firm has served since 1980.
