Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Enrolled Agent?

A tax professional authorized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS. It is the highest credential the IRS awards, earned by passing a three-part IRS exam and kept with continuing education every year, and because it is federal it is not limited to one state.

Can you do my business return and my personal return?

Yes. Both are prepared in the same office, so the income that leaves the business lands correctly on your own return, and one office can answer for both.

I am not sure which service I need. Where do I start?

Call the office or send a request. Tell us what is going on and we will tell you what it needs, whether that is one service or three, and what it costs.

What does it cost?

It depends on the work: the size of the books, how many people are on payroll, what the return involves. We look at what you have first, and you hear the price before any work starts.

Do you only work with clients in Michigan?

No. Most of our clients are here in Portage and Kalamazoo, but we work with individuals and businesses across the country. Documents come through the secure client portal, and as Enrolled Agents we can represent you before the IRS wherever you live.

Do I have to come in?

No. Documents go up through the client portal, or you can drop them at the office on Portage Road, so you can do all of it without coming in.

Tell Us What Is Going On

Whether it is the books, the payroll, the business return or your own, the first step is the same: a conversation. You hear what the work involves and what it costs before any of it starts.
